With HomePAC at PHA for US Senator Bob Casey Fund Raiser

On Nov. 2, PHA’s political action committee, HomePAC, hosted a fundraiser for US Senator Bob Casey at the PHA office. The HomePAC Board recognizes Sen. Casey’s support of the home health industry, which includes his position as the ranking member of the Senate Aging Committee. Last week, Sen. Casey, along with 48 other Senators, signed an opposition letter to CMS about the Home Health Groupings Model that would change the proposed payment system, disrupting home health services and hurt the post-acute care industry. This along with advocacy efforts from PHA, the Council of State Home Care Associations, NAHC and other national providers and organizations lead CMS to say they are not finalizing the implementation of Home Health Groupings Model Home Health Final Rule on Nov. 1.

Sen. Casey was a member of the Senate Chronic Care Working Group, which made recommendations in 2016 on ways to improve the care of seniors with chronic conditions. Many of these recommendations, including a provision to expand the successful Independence at Home demonstration program, recently passed the Senate as part of the Creating High-Quality Results and Outcomes Necessary to Improve Chronic (CHRONIC) Care Act of 2017.
