Deer Meadows Home Health and Support Services will be collaborating with the Library of Congress on a Veterans History Project. We are working with Brith Sholom Senior Apartments and the veterans that reside there who would like to participate.
Our plan is to record the oral history through interview of the resident veterans of Brith Sholom Senior Apartments. Once the oral history is recorded, it will take 4-6 months max to get everything digitized and uploaded on the LOG website and the veterans will have their own personal profile. We will be preserving original documents, pictures, and medals, uniforms, and materials from U.S. veterans - both current and donated from surviving veterans, and/or their family members. There are 80-100 new collections every week and over 100.000 to date- they are all available online to view and listen to in the online library. There is a search bar you can use to navigate and narrow your search (key words, dates and date ranges, war, location, and name.
Members involved: Owen Edward Rogers (Library of Congress), Stan Rynkiewicz, Irene Dudley, Elizabeth Goodman, Gina Paulino (DMHHSS), and Mike Schaeffer(Brith Sholom).
More to come as this project develops!
